Nicole Taylor is a Masters student in Media Studies at Concordia University, with an interest in Black feminist and critical race theory, and Afrofuturism. Her research explores the relationship of cosplay (costume play) and black identity; more specifically, how the embodiment of various fictional characters can obstruct archetypal characterizations of black identity and offer a space to play with race and signification. This field of study was inspired by her love for popular culture, fantasy, and her involvement in the cosplay subculture.
