Jacqueline Pinkowitz is a doctoral candidate in Media Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, and holds an MA in Cinema Studies from New York University. Her dissertation examines the relationship between race and region as navigated the American film industry throughout the era of black civil rights. Her work has been published in the Journal of Popular Film and Television, the Journal of Transformative Works and Cultures, and the Quarterly Review of Film and Video. She is a past Managing Editor of FLOW, and she serves on the editorial board of The Velvet Light Trap.
