Elyse Gordon is a PhD candidate in geography at the University of Washington. Her research explores the intersections of poverty, philanthropy and politics within Seattle. She is committed to social justice pedagogy and activism in and out of the classroom, and lives out these engagements as a co-director of the Publicly Active Graduate Education Fellows through Imagining America, as a member of the Certificate of Public Scholarship at the University of Washington, as a co-founder of Eat for Equity Seattle, and as a donor-activist with Social Justice Fund Northwest. Elyse's latest project will launch a salon series called the Justice Lab, which curates and facilitates intimate and challenging conversations with 'well-meaning' millenials around topics of social, racial and economic justice.
