I teach professional/technical writing, think about digital literacies, explore literacy narratives. An attempt at a literacy narrative a couple years ago, thick in digital terrains, led to the field of surveillance studies where I remain fascinated, and an interest in developing visual rhetoric knowledge from a cognitive perspective (focused on aging populations) led to a current interest in ceramics, in functional pottery. I currently continue work on that literacy narrative, am trying to create something about assessment and surveillance, and am writing about the challenges of communicating technical information within the ceramics community, thick in the midst of changing relations because of social network venues like Facebook.
