Alec MacLeod received his undergraduate education at Hampshire College where he studied philosophy and fine arts. He holds a Master of Fine Arts from Stanford University (1983) and studied library science at the University of California at Berkeley. He has also trained as a facilitator of multicultural change. His primary areas of interest are in the studio arts, art theory, and cultural studies. His current work in the area of cultural studies includes the representations of self and of the other, racial recognition, White identity development, and visual representations of ideas and theory. Mr. MacLeod lives in Oakland California with his wife and step-son and is on the faculty of the California Institute of Integral Studies.
